Trading requires hard work and determination; it can also be very lucrative in certain circumstances. Here are a few tips to get you started on this career path.
Some Pokemon evolve through trading in Pokemon Go, like Haunter turning into Gengar or Kadabra growing into Alakazam. Others require specific items for evolution like Scyther carrying a Metal Coat.
Alakazam
Trade Evolutions were integral to how some of the original Pokemon games’ best Pokemon evolved, including Alakazam – an impressive Psychic type with powerful Special Attacks and Speed stats that could one-shot opponents easily. Now in Pokemon Go, players can trade Kadabra for Alakazam by switching it between players – this provides a fast way of unlocking this powerful creature if you lack the patience to undergo its entire evolutions!
To evolve your Kadabra into Alakazam, find someone willing to trade it with you and arrange a trade – it will become immediately into Alakazam upon trading, and you can then use your new Alakazam to battle other trainers in-game!
While Alakazam is an effective Psychic-type Pokemon, it does have some weaknesses that should be noted. For instance, it’s vulnerable to both Bug-type moves and Dark-type attacks; thus, these Pokemon must be used with a partner capable of countering these types of activities. Furthermore, its base HP is low, which means it could take some damage over time without support from a bulkier teammate; therefore, using Life Orb or Choice Specs would allow Alakazam to deal damage over and over until it KOs its opponent!
Machoke
This fighting type is beloved among trainers due to its versatility in PvE and Great League formats. Still, its stats don’t stand out too much when used in PvP battles – its weakness in PvP may require other Pokemon to cover for it, so keep that in mind when using this Pokemon as part of a team.
Players can turn Machop into Machoke by feeding him 25 candies or trading with another player, making this evolution effortless – especially with the current event where extra sweets are awarded every level-up!
Linking Cord, available from the Snowpoint City raid boss, is required to activate this trade evolution and must be held by both Karrablast and Shelmet for it to occur.
Of course, trading a Pokemon that can be evolved through this method negates any candy costs for receiving players, meaning trainers should consider all their options carefully when considering developing it using this route. Trainers should entrust any potential recipients with only genuine intentions of giving away a Pokemon; otherwise, it would be best to go the traditional evolution route instead so you can use its stats effectively during battle and won’t regret giving it away later. The same rule applies to Porygon and its two evolutions requiring specific items.
Graveler
There are a variety of Pokemon that evolve through trading. At the same time, some require holding an item while trading, while others do not require this action. Two notable trading Pokemon include Karrablast and Shelmet – to evolve them both requires trading one with another trainer – the Karrablast will steal Shelmet’s armor. At the same time, its partner will become more vulnerable to Escavaliers after this exchange is completed.
Graveler is a Rock/Ground type Pokemon found in the Alola region. It is the evolved form of Geodude and can be traded with other players to develop into Golem using Pokemon GO; however, this requires special measures; one such method requires selling it to someone of an equal level as you and sending your trade partner back a Rock/Ground level Pokemon as trading it was done via Pokemon GO.
Additionally, players must possess a Link Cord. This item resembles the link cables used for Game Boy connect and disconnect and will trigger the evolution of Machoke, Kadabra, and Haunter into their final forms.
Notably, when evolving Pokemon through trading, their Candy requirements do not decrease due to stat rerolling when trading occurs, which means it may still be possible for an IV Pokemon to be lost through trading.
Gengar
Gengar is one of the more beloved Ghost Pokemon in Red and Blue, making a powerful addition to any team. Unfortunately, however, its acquisition can be more complex due to a problematic trading process; longtime fans know this is necessary to evolve Haunter into Gengar using one of several Special Evolution methods available within the game, which dates back as far as Red and Blue itself!
Gengar is unique among Special Evolution Pokemon as its evolution doesn’t require an item to evolve via trade; players need to trade the Pokemon in the middle with another person to see it develop into Gengar instantly. While this method might be more complicated for newer players than its counterparts, it still works; emulators may provide similar results but may not consistently deliver reliable trades as soon.
To start this process, players need to capture a Pincurchin, which can be found anywhere along the beach areas of Levincia and North Province. Next, they should trade this Pokemon between players who own either Gengars (preferably Haunters) and then trade it back in between them again to someone with Haunters; once this process begins, both parties can keep their Gengar and receive back their original Pokemon as part of an exchange process.
Haunter
Haunter is both a Ghost and Poison Pokemon that’s known to inhabit dark places like caves and graveyards, making them immune to Normal-type attacks as well as fighting-type ones; additionally, it possesses massive Special Attack and Speed stats which makes him an invaluable Special Sweeper on any team.
However, its low defenses make it vulnerable to moves that could KO it. Luckily, its fast speed allows it to use prediction to predict actions from foes like Golurk and Claydol, then strike with Hidden Power Ground or Dazzling Gleam to two-hit knock out these threats.
Additionally, its psychic powers enable it to teleport between locations. This feature can help avoid traps like Arena Traps and Toxic Spikes that need avoiding.
One unique trait of Haunter is its tongue, which can pass through physical objects without obstruction and then use its lacerating power to lick victims into submission – similar to Dila from Philippine mythology who can float through solid objects before killing their prey with lacerating tongue lickings.
To evolve a Haunter into Gengar, players must trade it with another player in a game that supports trading, such as the 2021 remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (Brave Diamond and Shining Pearl). Note: the trade must occur between trainers who already possess Gengar in their team.
Clamperl
Clamperl is an adorable sea Pokemon that can evolve into two other cute sea Pokemon – Huntail and Gorebyss, to be exact! Clamperl doesn’t require specific items for its evolution; rather it happens randomly during player trades between players. Clamperl may eventually evolve into Huntail or Gorebyss, depending on which trading player receives it first.
To evolve Clamperl, trade it with a friend while holding a Deep Sea Scale, and it will begin developing into one of these Pokemon. This process works similarly to how Hold-Item Required Wurmple Evolutions work within main series Pokemon games; additionally, it allows trainers to receive Shiny versions of either Huntail or Gorebyss!
Trainers may be dismayed to hear this is the only way to obtain both Pokemon, yet it remains an enjoyable and fascinating evolution method. While trainers may be disappointed that it’s their only method for evolving these two Pokemon, it may work out for the best, as their appearance in nature won’t likely happen any time soon.
Trading can provide the means for evolving into shiny Pokemon; however, it should be remembered that their shine only lasts while given to their intended gifter and cannot be changed by giving to an incorrect party; otherwise, their stats could change, and they might never progress into their desired form.
