The Family Business is a limited series adapted from best-selling crime drama books published by the New York Times and follows the Duncan family, who run an upstanding exotic car dealership by day while, by night, engaging in dangerous criminal activities that threaten their livelihoods.

Ernie Hudson stars as patriarch L.C., who must decide which of his children should take over his company. Valarie Pettiford, Emilio Rivera, Darrin Henson, Javicia Leslie, and Sean Ringgold complete the cast.

Ernie Hudson

Ernie Hudson (Winston in Ghostbusters) stars in this thriller about a family who run an exclusive car dealership by day and lead an illicit lifestyle at night. When their home becomes threatened by politicians, mafia bosses, and drug cartels of their city, it becomes essential that they stick together or perish individually.

Hudson executive produces this eight-episode drama based on the best-selling crime drama book series, and Valarie Pettiford and Armand Assante co-star as L.C. and Charlotte Duncan from Tri Destined Studios’s New York Undercover; Malik Yoba of NY Undercover plays Harris Grant who finds himself locked into an argument between himself and Charlotte over who will succeed her at their business. Valarie Pettiford

Valarie Pettiford is an impressively gifted actor, dancer, and singer who earned herself a Tony nomination for her performance as Fosse on Broadway. Now this multi-talented entertainer has taken to playing Charlotte “Chippy” Duncan on BET’s Carl Weber’s The Family Business show as Charlotte “Chippy.”

Based on the best-selling New York Times crime series, this drama follows the Duncan family, who run an upscale exotic car dealership by day while also engaging in illicit activity by night. Ernie Hudson stars as patriarch L.C. Duncan, who’s in the process of handing the business down to one of his children.

Tri Destined Studios’ executive producers Nikaya D. Brown Jones and Trey Haley have created an engaging story featuring numerous family members with unique skills; for instance, Paris is a stunning model who proves much more lethal than expected.

Armand Assante

Armand Assante is a seasoned character actor known for his skill at portraying underworld hardmen. His acting talent and distinct look have led him to roles in hundreds of films and TV shows; some notable credits include Dominic Catano from American Gangster, Henri Tremont in Private Benjamin, and Caesar Castillo in Mambo Kings.

Assante has not only performed in mafia and tough-guy roles but has also distinguished himself by participating in historical dramas. He played Napoleon Bonaparte in 1987’s Napoleon and Josephine, Odysseus in the TV miniseries On the Beach, and Friedrich Nietzsche from Irving Yalom’s novel When Nietzche Wept.

Assante has not only appeared in Carl Weber’s The Family Business but has also participated in independent projects such as ‘Last Run,’ a heist thriller called One-Eyed King, and two comedies called ‘Two For The Money.’

Emilio Rivera

Carl Weber wrote The Family Business as a series of novels following the Duncan family from Jamaica, Queens. Although known for their exotic car dealership business, their family can still experience dramatic ups and downs in everyday life.

Darrin Henson

Darrin DeWitt Henson stars as Orlando Duncan in Carl Weber’s The Family Business on BET+, an exciting hit series about an apparent family that operates an exclusive car dealership by day but has an underground drug trade dealing operation at night.

Henson is best known for creating Darrin’s Dance Grooves and directed Violation. From 2000-2004, he played Lem Van Adams in Showtime’s Soul Food television drama series, an unprecedented run that boasted a predominantly black cast.

Javicia Leslie

Javicia Leslie has made waves in Hollywood over the past several years. After graduating from Hampton University, she quickly earned a series regular role on BET’s Carl Weber’s Family Business and appeared in the films Swim at Your Own Risk and Always a Bridesmaid. Furthermore, Leslie appeared on CBS’ God Friended Me and will play Batwoman on The CW live-action series, replacing Ruby Rose.

Tami Roman, best known as one of the stars of Basketball Wives and her show Haus of Vicious, has continued her acting career by appearing in Carl Weber’s The Family Business on BET+. The play centers around the Duncan family, who appear upstanding while running an exotic car dealership in Jamaica Queens but lead an underground criminal life within New York City.

Roman stars as London Duncan-Grant, an elder daughter who appears to be an unassuming homebody yet has some unexpected secrets. Roman joins an ensemble cast that includes Ernie Hudson, Valarie Pettiford, Darrin Henson, Javicia Leslie, Brely Evans Sacaiah Shaw, and Miguel A Nunez Jr. As the second season premieres today, it follows this family as they look to solidify their place within the underworld.
